Satire: What is even that?
Breaking Humor: What Even Is This
The blinking vertical line on the empty text editor was doing absolutely nothing, and it was doing it with immense dedication.
Outside the window, a light breeze rustled the leaves of a Burnsville maple tree, but inside the screen, time had completely frozen. There was no breaking news. No local supermarket expansions to report. No updated holiday salon hours to track. Just a stark, blinding white expanse of digital canvas waiting for a purpose that simply wasn't coming.
Across the room, an old desk fan hummed a monotonous, three-note song, oscillating back and forth to push the exact same air from the left side of the desk to the right. A forgotten ceramic mug sat nearby, holding the lukewarm remnants of black coffee that had long since surrendered its steam to the morning air. It wasn't contributing to the day; it was just occupying space, a quiet monument to stillness.
Sometimes, the universe doesn't require a grand narrative. It doesn't need an algorithmically optimized headline, a targeted keyword strategy, or a fast-paced chronicle of city life. The clouds drift across the Minnesota sky without a deadline, and the dust motes dance in the morning sunbeams without a content plan.
And so, the cursor kept blinking. Dash. Blank. Dash. Blank. It was a rhythmic reminder that before anything can exist, there must first be a whole lot of nothing. It wasn't a story about a beginning, a middle, or an end. It was just a brief pause in a busy world—a digital deep breath, captured in real-time, signifying absolutely nothing at all.
