The Foundation and The Wooden Floor 1.1 From Skateland to Skateville The building located at 201 River Ridge Circle S in Burnsville first opened its doors to roller skaters in 1972 under the name " Skateland " . Right from its inception, the rink was designed to be a premier regional attraction for the Twin Cities south metro community. In 1976 , a foundational change occurred when the iconic 14,000-square-foot rotunda skating floor was installed for $33,000.
